Holla!
“The air soft as that of Seville in April, and so fragrant that it was delicious to breathe it.” – Christopher Columbus
Seville is the capital city in Southern Spain Andalusia region and it is rich in Moorish heritage and this can be seen in the architecture around the city. The Alcázar of Seville is a beautiful example of the Moorish-Renaissance royal palace and it is definitely a place where you want to spend time at. Here are 5 reasons why you should visit the Alcázar of Seville.
#1 Rich in history
Alcázar of Seville can be traced back to the 913 when it was under the rule of the Moors, their influence of design can be seen throughout the palace. However, it’s only been updated several times in it’s original architecture. Fun fact it is one of the oldest royal palaces still in use in Europe and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
#2 Beautiful interior and decor
The phenomenon royal palace is covered in colourful rich design and part of the mudéjar architecture found on the Iberian Peninsula. Just look at the details on the wall, it’s absolutely stunning!
#3 Escape to another world
Find yourself immerse into another world of luxury and pretend to be royalty. Walk in the footsteps of a royal through a giant gate or through a beautiful courtyard. Make sure you get lost through the vast, lush garden and check out the labyrinth. Extra bonus, it’s in a vibrant warm setting and winter rarely occurs.
#4 Get amazing Instagram shots
Look at the mosaics background, perfect for those Instagram shots!
#5 A film set in Games of Throne, Palace of Dorne
An excuse to say you have visited the “Palace of Dorne” and explored where the Martell’s lived.
I hope I added the wanderlust to your bucket list.
Till next time, -M

Such lovely photos and descriptions. Seville is my home city, been here for 12 years and love reading more about it. Doing some research on a new novel set here so this information is very useful, thanks.

Thank you so much! I really love Seville and the south! I wish I could go back and stay for longer though… I was actually sick when I visited Seville and felt like I didn’t embrace the city as a whole. What is your novel on? Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Yeah I love it here now, but it took a while to get used to living here. Takes a while to really get to know it. Novel is about an English guy who comes over to Sevilla to learn the flamenco guitar and falls in love with a flamenco dancer. It’s contemporary romance fiction. Trying to find a publisher at the moment so might be a while before you can read it. Best of luck in your new adventure.
