Marhaban/ Bonjour!
“This creed of the desert seemed inexpressible in words, and indeed in thought.” -T. E. Lawrence
Morocco is a land of mystery with so many places to discovered and Aït Benhaddou was one of them. So what was my first impression? My answer, ancient giant sandcastles…? Located between the Sahara Desert and Marrakech, this fortified city is not too far from the Atlas Mountains. The hype over Aït Benhaddou is that it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is famous for being used as film sets. Sixteen movies have all been filmed here, such as The Mummy, Gladiator, Prince of Persia and The Games of Thrones series. Nevertheless, there is this allure and curiosity of visiting an ancient city in the middle of the desert. Enjoy the visual diary of Aït Benhaddou!
Ps: It does get very hot so make sure you stay hydrated!
Till next time, -M
